About Us

Nicholas Bagshawe

Nicholas Bagshawe has worked in the British art market since the 1970’s. Oxford educated, he trained initially with Sotheby’s before working for Pawsey & Payne, dealers in British art, in St. James’s in London. From 1979 to 1994 he was a founding partner of Walker-Bagshawe, dealers in British and European painting from gallery premises in Walton Street in London.

Since 1994 Nicholas Bagshawe has worked as a sole trader in 18th, 19th and early 20th century fine art and has developed a series of lectures on subjects related to his area of expertise. The business is run from gallery premises in London's St.James's.

The Gallery :

Nicholas Bagshawe Fine Art trades in a wide range of paintings. In the gallery will be found paintings of exceptional quality, suitable for museums and major collections. The gallery also buys and sells a large number of works suitable for the decorator, the dealer - and the undemanding collector just looking for something nice to hang on the wall. Most paintings will be found properly restored and framed to retail standard. Some however are left in their original condition.

These may be destined to be sold at auction or may be suitable for the collector or dealer wishing to make their own decisions about the final presentation. Prices will of course vary according to the quality of the picture in question - but the typical range is from £1,000 (with a large section under £10,000) to around £75,000.

The trading stock of Nicholas Bagshawe Fine Art can be viewed any weekday at the gallery premises at 88, St. James's Street in London. Appointments are necessary, but can be easily made by calling 07970 689 647.
